After much thought and prayer, I would like to announce my candidacy for the office of United States Congressman for the state of Tennessee.
As a business owner and lifetime resident of Tennessee, I consider myself very fortunate to live and work in our state. I have been dismayed, and saddened, at the direction towards which this nation has turned. Our freedoms and values are daily being challenged and stripped away, and it's time to take action.
As a husband and father, I feel that it is my responsibility to work hard to ensure that my children and grandchildren are free to live in a country that recognizes individual liberty and the rights that our forefathers bestowed upon this great nation. I want future generations to be able to look back and view this period of history as a bellweather moment that re-established the United States as the "gold standard" of representative democracy and re-energized its people to take a stand against "all foes, foreign and domestic".
Now, more than ever, I think it’s time…it’s time to bring in new blood, new faces, progressive thinking, and most importantly, progressive action.
By politically polarizing issues, we have divided our “parties” and have come to an impasse in making decisions that could lead to a more positive direction for our state. We must work together to create and ensure a shared and sustainable future for our growing communities while continuing to fight for our God-given rights.
Our elected officials’ jobs should be to ensure our nation's safety, promote a positive environment for families to live in, students to learn in, and businesses to grow in. Andrew Jackson was quoted as saying, “Any man worth his salt will stick up for what he believes right.” We live in a remarkable state, filled with talented and educated people who share a deep appreciation for our nation, and I want to stick up for what is right for our country.
